Setup 91xxx tablet with AutoCAD 12 for
Windows in Windows 95
A. Set Internal Switches to AutoCAD settings using the 9100 series User's Manual
1. The 9100 series tablet must have a firmware revision
"F" or later to work with Wintab™ driver sets 2.x
higher.
Following are instructions to assist with verifying the firmware
revision and setting the internal switches.
2. Following are a series of steps to disassemble the
9100 tablet.
***IMPORTANT***
a. Disconnect all cables from
the tablet and remove all covers from the port
access holes before trying to remove
the board train.
(The board train is the two attached circiut boards that are to
be removed.)
***IMPORTANT***
b. If the tablet is on a table,
move it until the upper left corner of the frame
overhangs the table edge. If the tablet
is on a pedestal,
tilt it to vertical.
c. With a Phillips screwdriver,
remove the cover from the upper left corner.
This cover is held by two screws
recessed
into the underside of
the cover. The board train is suspended in a slot in the upper
part of the frame.
d. Remove the lock screw next
to the POWER button.
e. Depress the POWER switch,
grasp the ribbon cable and partially pull the
board train out of the slot. Hold the
power switch down
until it
slides behind the frame.
f. Place a thumb on each
release tab of the ribbon cable connector. Using firm
pressure, push the tabs outward
unlocking the cable
from the
connector. Remove the cable from the connector.
g. Using the cable connector as
the grip, pull the board train straight out
of its slot.
***Hold the
ribbon away from the board train to prevent it from being damaged by the rough board surface.***
h. The first board in the train
is the Digitizing Processor Board. "Switch
Bank SB1" is on this board.
i. The second board is the
Communication Interface board. Switch Bank's.
"SW1" and "SW2" are on this board.
3. Checking the firmware revison.
a. Locate the first board, the
Digitizing Processor Board.
b. Check the first horizontal
ROM chip closest to the Communication Interface
Board connector for a sticker
indicating the part number
and
revision. This chip is located in the U3 ROM socket,
c. If the revision is not F, G,
or H; ***STOP***. This board can not be used with
the Wintab™ driver sets 2.x and
3.x. Firmware upgrades
are no longer
available for these tablets. Reassemble the tablet using the
previous
instructions in A.2 as a guide.

information on the latest CalComp tablets***
d. If the firmware revision is
F, G, or H, proceed to the next section to set the
internal switches.
4. Following are the internal switch settings
required to enable this digitizer to operate properly.
Digitizing Processing Board-
SB1- OOOCOOXX (For a 4
button cursor)
or
SB1- OOCOOOXX (For a 16
button cursor)
Communication Interface Board-
SW1- OOCCOCCO
SW2- OCCOCCCC
(O = Switch is Open C =
Switch is Closed XX= No Change)
5. To change the switches
a. Use a pen or small pointed
instrument to "click" each switch.
b. "Click" the rocker
switch to the word OPEN to set it to the OPEN position or
to the # of the switch, (1-8), for
the CLOSED position
6. After the switches are set properly, reassemble the
tablet using the steps from A.2 as a guide
B. Configure AutoCAD for the CalComp Driver
1. Start Windows 95
2. Enter AutoCAD for Windows
3. Type CONFIG at the Command Line to Configure AutoCAD
4. Select "Configure Digitizer"
5. Do you want to select a different one? [Y]
6. Select "Wintab Compatible Digitizer by
CalComp"
7. Answer the following questions:
a. Do you want to configure
your digitizer as a mole? [Y]
b. Do you want an audible
mole/context state indicator?
[Y/N]
c. Do you want an visible
mole/context state indicator?
[Y/N]
d. Do you want to assign a
CURSOR BUTTON to toggle modes? [N]
e. Do you want a PRIMARY MOLE
area? [Y]
f. "Enter Lower-left Hand
corner now." (Defining the lower left
corner of the active mole area. Select just inside
the lower left hand corner of the active screen
pointing area.)
g. "Enter Upper-right hand
corner now." (Define the upper right
corner of the active mole area. Select just inside
the upper right hand corner of the
screen
pointing area. )
NOTE: The
lower-left and upper-right corners that you pick for the MOLE area should define a square area just
inside the drawing area of your template.
h. Do you want a SECONDARY MOLE area?
[N]
i. Do you want a PRIMARY TOGGLE area?
[N]
j. Do you want a SECONDARY TOGGLE
area? [N]
8. Type "0" to Exit to the drawing editor.
9. Keep configuration changes. [Y]
10. Select "Preferences" under the "File"
menu.
11. Select "Digitizer/Mouse Arbitrate" under the
Digitizer Input section.
12. Select "Save to ACAD.INI" under AutoCAD
Settings.
13. Select [OK]
14. Begin Using AutoCAD for Windows
C. Configuring the AutoCAD Template (ACAD.MNU only)
1. Type "TABLET" [ENTER] at the command line.
2. Type "CFG" [ENTER]
3. Enter the number of menu areas.
4. Select "4" [ENTER]
5. AutoCAD will now ask you to select the, Upper Left, Lower Left, and Lower Right corners
of Menu Area 1 located
at the top of your AutoCAD
template.
6. Enter the number of columns for menu area 1:
7. Type "25" [Enter]
8. Enter the number of rows for menu area 1:
9. Type "9" [Enter]
10. Repeat steps 5-10 for menu areas 2, 3 and 4 using the columns and rows from the following
table:

(Defining the upper right corner of the active mole area.
Select the upper right hand corner of the
active screen
pointing area located on the template.)
12. The tablet is now configured for the AutoCAD template.
